Womanhood or Woman’s-Hurt?: A Documentary, explores the intimate and personal story of visual and performing artist, Frances Bradley. Visually detailing her stages of healing by way of a 12-piece series illustrating the night she was sexually assaulted. The film unfolds from the beginning, at the tender age of 18 when she opened the door welcoming in someone she trusted and knew. Now, 13 years later, she shares her deepest, and most intimate secrets that night. Through words from her daily journal and visual reflections, this documentary will be the voice to her complimentary exhibition that will remove victim from her experience and instead replace it with empowered.

The purpose of this film is to encourage women to reflect without fear and relate to one another through experience while healing. While never dismissing that this level of trauma is difficult, through personal interviews, Bradley explores her ups and downs with acceptance, forgiveness, pain, shame and her process to heal from the inside out.

Now, a survivor and woman living in the fast paced and gritty city of NYC, we explore the resilience she’s developed, navigating her everyday life while staying committed to her life’s purpose; activism, healing herself and others with her story through artistry.
